The University of Texas at Austin,
FILUNI 2023
UT Austin became the first North American university to co-host La Feria Internacional del Libro de las Universitarias y los Universitarios (FILUNI), a major academic book fair in Mexico City that welcomed over 42,000 participants from more than 10 countries. With over 50 UT-led events — including panels, symposia, performances, and exhibitions — this initiative was a high-profile opportunity to showcase UT’s academic and cultural impact on the global stage.
As the lead Art Director, I developed a multi-platform campaign and experiential design system to support both the on-site experience and the digital storytelling that followed.

Campaign & Digital Strategy
To drive awareness and engagement before and during the event, I directed the design of a branded landing page and social media toolkit, incorporating custom visual elements inspired by FILUNI’s identity while aligning with UT’s global brand standards. This toolkit supported event coverage throughout the week and was later expanded to promote the digital report experience.

Experiential Art Direction
I partnered with a Mexico City–based construction vendor to design UT Austin’s exhibition booth, balancing open visibility with intentional gathering space. My goal was to create a welcoming, brand-forward hub that encouraged conversation while honoring cultural context.
-
A large illustration of the UT Tower, framed against a limestone-textured facade, served as a visual anchor and cleverly disguised an internal storage unit.
-
With my design team, I produced a custom illustrated campus scene as a translucent window cling — providing light, privacy, and a quiet connection to home for UT's attendees abroad.
These elements transformed the booth into a functional, branded experience that reflected UT’s identity while remaining approachable and engaging for a global audience.

Digital Displays & On-Site Communication
To enhance real-time communication, I designed a system of rotating digital display slides highlighting daily schedules, event spotlights, and UT Austin facts. These played throughout the booth, providing attendees with up-to-date information in an approachable and visual format.

Interactive Digital Report
🏆 Winner, 2024 District IV CASE Award
Following the event, I led the design of an interactive digital report that served as a multimedia archive of UT Austin’s presence at FILUNI. The report features photography, video, and stories from the week, extending the life of the campaign while maintaining visual continuity with the pre-event promotional materials.
🎯 Outcome: Elevated UT’s global brand presence at a major international academic fair through integrated environmental and digital design, cross-cultural collaboration, and award-winning digital storytelling.
